English classes for Homeschoolers grades 4-12.
Christie is a 42 year veteran English teacher who has taught in public, private, and homeschool venues. Currently she offers once a week classes in her home in Bellingham, Washington for kids in grades 4-12. She’s known for making learning a joy and for encouraging kids to love writing. Her classes meet on Tuesdays or Wednesdays for 90 minutes with homework for the week.

Speaking to Christian Groups
For over 25 years, Christie has been speaking to Christian women’s retreats and special events all over the United States through her ministry FRESH LOOK THINKING. Audiences love her humor, her practical, personal and powerful messages, her transparent walk with the Lord, her love for the Bible, and how real she is as she shares.
She also offers SPEAKER TRAINING WORKSHOPS. Next workshop April 5 and 6, 2024
Books to Encourage,
Challenge and Inform!
Christie loves to write! She has written thirteen books and quite a few devotionals. She started out writing five travel books for the State of Washington (Travel Guides for the Curious). Her joy is writing short devotionals which make great gifts. Most of these come from her speaking opportunities.
Recently, she expanded her writing to longer devotionals, books on weight issues, a marriage book for women in difficult marriages, and four novels. In addition to these book, she has written six made-for-TV screenplays and over 15 Stage Plays for kids.
Her novel all have themes: preparing for heaven, seeing how you are enough in the Lord, being comforted through your grief, and healing from trauma.
Annual Homeschool Testing
For over 8 years, Christie has come along side homeschooling families by offering the required annual Washington State testing for grades 3-12 in her home. This takes the pressure off of the parents and makes it a fun experience for the students. She offers the Iowa Basic test which provides parents with an excellent glimpse into how their students are growing each year also offering comparisons to students across the United States in based upon grade levels. Tests are given in the month of May.
Creative Youth Theater
For 24 years, Christie has offered a 2-week drama workshop for kids 6-17 in Bellingham. It’s a great place to begin and to develop your acting abilities. Our program is different in that everyone has lots of time on stage, a character to develop, and fun lines to say. Big and small parts are available, but everyone is a star!! Younger kids (6-11) put on a shorter play and the older kids (11-17) put on a three act play. It’s an exciting summer workshop for kids! The plays we use are also for sale.
NOTE: Mr. Daniel Thayer is taking over Creative Youth Theater. He has a masters in Drama and Music and teaches at Mount Vernon Christian School. Plays are in July.
New Hope For Marriage
This impactful weekend retreat is for wives who are struggling and discouraged in their marriages and need some direction to move into a more positive future. This retreat is facilitated by Christie and her friend Deb Kalmbach. Both struggled in their marriages and saw God work in amazing ways! This retreat is held twice a year in various locations in Washington. It is limited to five women. Some scholarship are available
About Christie…
Christie describes herself as CREATIVE and CURIOUS. Others describe her as being a caring, challenging, and helpful person who makes an impact in people’s lives — through her teaching, speaking, writing, coaching, and directing. She is an always-growing Christian who has walked with the Lord for over 55 years.
As an English teacher for 40 years, she has served in a variety of venues, and currently teaches homeschooled students from grades 4-12 in her Bellingham (country) home. Her goal is to make learning a joy!
In addition to teaching English, Christie is a Christian speaker. She has spoken to Christian groups all over the United States and Canada for over 25 years through her ministry FRESH LOOK THINKING. To encourage others in their speaking ministries, she founded Northwest Christian Speakers Bureau where she trains speakers to develop their ministries as well as helping churches and retreat centers find dynamic speakers for their special events and retreats. In May each year, she offers the Iowa Basic test for homeschooled students to meet the state requirement. She began Creative Youth Theater over 24 years ago, and it continues to be held in July in Bellingham under a new director. She has written over 20 plays for this group and these are for sale on this web page.
